REP joins global leaders at All-In Summit

In September, REP Directors Sebastian Burgman and Luke McDonald attended the All-In Summit in Los Angeles, joining global leaders, investors and innovators for a three-day program focused on technology, business, markets and the ideas shaping the future.

This marks the fourth year they’ve attended, bringing home valuable insights, fresh perspectives and global thinking that will help inform REP’s strategic direction and strengthen the advice we provide to clients. Exposure to world-leading ideas and conversations ensures our team remain connected to emerging trends, opportunities and challenges, and continue to bring forward-thinking knowledge back into the business.

Visiting Kidston Pumped Hydro

The REP team recently had the opportunity to visit the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro project in North Queensland.

As development and approvals progress for the Capricornia Pumped Hydro project, the visit provided a valuable opportunity to see another Queensland pumped hydro project first-hand and learn from the experience of those delivering it.

Thanks to John Holland and McConnell Dowell, the EPC Contractor delivering the project, and Genex Power and J-POWER for generously hosting the team, sharing their experience and providing an opportunity to see the project up close.

The team particularly valued hearing lessons learned from both the owner and contractor perspectives, as well as from team members who have been involved in Kidston since the early stages of construction.

Standing in the lower portal and inside the spiral casings was a particular highlight, providing a rare opportunity to see these elements of the project up close.

There is a lot for the REP team to take away from the visit as it continues progressing Queensland’s next pumped hydro project and prepares for public notification of the Capricornia Pumped Hydro EIS in the coming weeks.

Bogunda Energy Hub Briefing Strengthens Engagement with Flinders Shire Council

This month, our team attended a briefing session with Flinders Shire Council to provide an overview of the proposed Bogunda Energy Hub. The session covered the project’s current status, anticipated development timeline and next steps in the planning and approvals process.

The briefing also focused on the opportunities the project could bring to the Flinders Shire region, including potential employment and contracting opportunities, local business participation, investment in regional infrastructure and longer-term community benefits associated with the project.

Council acknowledged the importance of early, transparent and ongoing engagement with the community and thanked the REP team for their involvement in the Hughenden community over the past two years. This has included supporting local events and organisations, helping the team build meaningful relationships in the community.

Working with Traditional Owners

In preparation for the next phase of wind monitoring on one of our projects, the REP team had the opportunity to work alongside Traditional Owners as they undertook a Cultural Heritage survey.

Working with Traditional Owners brings valuable knowledge and perspectives to the fieldwork and helps our project teams develop a deeper understanding of an area’s cultural heritage values. This work also helps ensure Traditional Owner knowledge informs the project as it progresses, supporting a considered approach to identifying and managing cultural heritage values throughout project development.

Supporting Resource Industry Network

For 25 years, Resource Industry Network has played an important role in supporting the businesses, people and industries that make the Mackay, Isaac, Whitsunday and Bowen Basin region such an economic powerhouse for Queensland.

REP attended the 2026 RIN Awards Gala in early September, with Capricornia Pumped Hydro sponsoring the Expansion into New Markets award, and to celebrate the businesses and people contributing to the region’s continued growth.

Capricornia Pumped Hydro supported the 2026 RIN Awards Gala as the category sponsor for the Expansion into New Markets award. This award reflects the opportunities that the Capricornia project creates, with local businesses adapting their skills and services to meet the needs of large-scale energy projects. By stepping into new markets, these businesses help drive innovation and create the partnerships that make projects like Capricornia Pumped Hydro possible.
