Battery of the North

As the core of the proposed Capricornia Renewable Energy Hub, the Capricornia pumped hydro will provide large-scale dispatchable power in Central Queensland.

The long-duration energy storage combined with grid strength and stability services will be key in the transition to intermittent renewable energy generation, keeping the grid stable and wholesale electricity prices low when the Central Queensland coal-fired power stations are decommissioned, commencing in 2028.
